songs from home

This album roughly reflects a timeline of my recordings over the past 3 years living in my current townhouse. I imagine the progression of this album as moving from room to room, following the same order in which I began recording in my house, starting alone in my bedroom (songbird). From my room I find myself with a small band (it came from) and then at a party occurring downstairs (hello) from which I take a smoke break in the backyard, alone (smoke break) eventually moving to the garage (im gone) and finally, like rewinding a tape, looking back on everything that has led me here (arrival). 

The soundscape that I aimed to live in in this ep is somewhere between ambient and meditative with an underlying impression of anxiety and anger. I enjoyed an amount of unease with some of the songs, allowing them not to sit hard in a groove and letting individual pieces be a little out of tune and out of time with each other in order to produce a more raw and authentic atmosphere. There is beauty that comes out in how the pieces do line up, and in what they have to say, as they are.
